OPA CUPA

opa

Opa Cupa (pronounced Ow-pah Tzoo-pah) is the call to dance of the Gipsies of South-East Europe.
Around the trumpeter Cesare Dell'Anna musicians of different cultures (Bosnia-Erzegovina, Albania, Algeria, Bulgaria, Southern Italy, Morocco, Rumania) gather, creating an out and out festive fanfare out of their own poliedric experiences in ethnic music and jazz.
The original lyrics and music by Cesare Dell'Anna, oriented to a research on the Balkans' musical repertoire, cross over with the jazz and band sounds typical of the musical tradition of Southern Italy.
The musical elaborations are the soundtrack of a party studded with ancient epic songs and slow ballads dizzily accelerated in the purest Gipsy style.
